What Is Cosmetic Dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry is a specialty that focuses on enhancing the smile’s appearance. A cosmetic dentist may address a range of issues, including discolored teeth, chipped or cracked teeth, a slightly misaligned smile or undersized teeth. Almost any aspect of your smile that you find dissatisfying can be addressed within this discipline. The treatment timeline involved in cosmetic dental procedures is often quite brief. Most of the treatments can be completed in a few weeks, and some patients may see their results in a matter of days. Cosmetic dentistry can be an option for anyone who is dissatisfied with the way their smile looks.

Porcelain Crowns

When teeth have sustained significant damage, a dental crown can be used to preserve the remaining visible portion of the tooth and the underlying root structure. A crown completely covers the part of the tooth that remains protecting it from further damage. Crowns are also used to support a tooth following root canal therapy, and to replace one or more teeth as part of dental implant or crown and bridge tooth replacement.

Porcelain Veneers

Dental veneers are a way of arresting the decline in your smile’s appearance by covering your teeth with a replacement for their original enamel. Veneers do more than just make your teeth look better, they also add to their overall durability and your dental health by giving you a strong foundation for continued proper dental hygiene and maintenance.

A routine procedure, your veneers can be applied with very little discomfort with only a brief visit to our Dallas office. In a few hours, we’ll have you fitted with affordable veneers and you’ll be on your way to a noticeably improved appearance in no time.

Bonding

Dental bonding, also known as composite bonding, consists of a highly esthetic tooth colored bonding material used for minor dental corrections. In practice, dental bonding is commonly used to close small spaces between the front teeth, repair fractured or discolored teeth, or to reshape unaesthetic teeth and also be used for fillings.

Dental bonding does not take the place of porcelain veneers for large restorative desires, but is a cost-effective alternative for smaller restorative areas. If your esthetic desires include multiple teeth but you want a conservative solution, you may be a candidate for no-prep veneers.

Invisalign® Braces

Invisible braces, or Invisalign, are the best alternative to shiny metal braces. Invisalign braces are paid for by the same insurance programs that would normally cover metal braces, and they are just as effective as metal braces without requiring large metal brackets and wires. Whereas traditional braces gradually straighten teeth, Invisalign treatments use synthetic molded devices to guide your teeth into place.

Not every Dallas dentist can handle Invisalign treatments, but Hefton Dentistry has the experience to serve you. If you’re interested in Invisalign braces, reach out to us for a consultation.

Whitening

All teeth become stained over time and naturally lose luster as the enamel thins and stains. Fortunately, professional teeth whitening can undo years of aging and staining that has turned teeth to shades of gray or yellow.  Unprofessional teeth whitening often leads to enamel erosion and even further discoloration of the teeth.

Implants

A dental implant is a small titanium post that serves as the replacement for the root portion of a missing natural tooth. Dental implants naturally fuse with bone and become a solid anchor for the restorations that we will place on top. Working in coordination with an implant surgeon, we can use implants to replace one tooth, multiple teeth, full arches or implant supported over dentures.

Dental implants help you to replace your missing teeth, with new ones that feel, perform and look just like the originals. Contact us to learn more!
